A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

I just read a question on this site (our site) The question was what do you do when you get a painful flare up there were 33 responses added to this question ❓ and most of us said when this happens they think there are other people that are dealing with HS that are going through a lot more
pain, embarrassment, and emotional stress than I'm dealing with and this may be true and this just shows how resilient we are it pains my heart that this is what we must do. So I will say to everyone keep up… read more

I'm going to say this again! Knowing that someone else is suffering worse than you might give you some sort of comfort or strength momentarily. However, it does not invalidate your own pain! We all have a different threshold for pain and our lives and what is required of each of us on a daily basis also differs from person to person. By telling yourself that someone else is suffering worse and that you should be grateful that it's not you eventually leads to guilt for "complaining" about how you feel or fear of how bad your HS could become. We have to take each day as it comes. And no one's pain is more or less valid than the next person's. This is why we're all here, in different stages of HS, to support one another! 🤗

Unfortunately it is sad.... and unfortunately yes I am one of those people who are used to it. . but I will never give up. I have been having this problem for years before finally being properly diagnosed last year.. finally sad to say. There are not enough medical professionals who have the knowledge of this HS. If there would be I would of been diagnosed years ago and started treatment years ago. I am currently in the stage two and if there was more knowledge of this chronic skin condition it would not got as far as what it has. The only thing I was told years ago is u have blocked hair follicles, next I was told your body over reacts to inflammation. There are good days and bad days. One of my triggers is sweat and I even had to leave the job I was doing because ober the course of the summer they have no AC where I worked which made the HS more worse. The Antibacterial wash helps. ..also take zinc supplements and omega 3 fish oil to help with the inflammation part of it to be less. I don't wish this chronic skin condition on anyone.. hopefully one day they will have more knowledge with it and come up with a cure instead of us just having to " live" with it. But I keep telling myself I will not let this HS beat me.....I will still live the best possible life that I can now ...we have to be positive
