How To Get The Hospital To Understand That The Oral Antibiotics Given Is Not Helping
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

I have been dealing with a HS outbreak since March they keep putting me on doxycycline they have already cut it open once and it keeps doing the same thing over and over again. The only thing that helps me is vanco but when I try to tell them that they want to ignore me the place that’s under my arm has infection coming out of it and it is blistering my skin.

Going to a dermatologist helped me right away. She was immediately aware of the condition and we came up with our first treatment plan. No other doctor helped. They just kept sending me for surgery.

Jo you need to get your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist and hopefully they will be able to help if you can get someone who understands hs and they will put you in touch with a surgeon they will come back if the tracks are not properly removed that is how hs is it burrows deep in the skin it’s going to take time but you need to go through dermatologist to get to a surgeon like I did but mine had done this 100’s of times before have a look at what they removed from me and my photos but don’t let the photos put you of I was pain free straight after the operation 👍

Good to hear that IV antibiotics work well for you - I had a bad reaction to most antibiotics too. I’m on Lymecycline long term, but I’ve still had break outs when on it. Short term I’ve also had Clindamycin, which I can tolerate.
Really not sure where to go from here, but I’m seeing the Doc next week.

You should be able to advocate for yourself..I put my foot down and explained that oral anti’s don’t work and I’ve become allergic to 3 antibiotics now so I have to have IV antibiotics which work a lot better x
