Can Anyone Recommend An Adhesive Dressing That Won't Leave A Rash
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

hi ive recently had surgery for incision and drainage on a breast abscess theyve left the wound open and it has to be packed and covered with a dressing im using standard adhesive dressings that they have me at the hospital but now I have a very angry looking blister rash that is so itchy from where the dressings have been has anyone else had the same issue or can recommend a dressing that won't cause this ?

I used a tegaderm patch but bc it's open its hard to put anything on it. I really thought I was tripping until I found this post. I thought I was the only one that had the one on the breast. Hope u get better xoxo

And the tape took some skin off so I'm changing tapes tryna see what works best. I like the island gauze pads to cover op my dressing. Less hassle on my body and it holds the dressing in place

Leave open as much as you can. I'm allergic to tape and adhesive . When I do need to cover them I use my bra or underwear to hold in place. It sucks buts it's better than a rash and blisters

Use kotex. Put the sticky side towards yr clothes. I'm very allergic to tape so that's what I use

I normally use either a bandage or gauges depending on the size of the issue. I also put about the size of a dime of hydrocortisone 1% (or w/e you have) at bedtime on it and you won’t believe the results the next morning.
