Boils On Face.
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else suffer with boils on their face?
I get flare ups often, they are really angry and cause my face to swell really bad.
I’ve had 3 in a row last few months.
Not been properly diagnosed but, was offered surgery a long time ago on my groin area. Refused as it was so invasive.
My mum also has this condition.
Is it worth going back to doctors? Referral time in the UK can take ages to see a dermatologist.
Help and advice would be much appreciated. ❤️

Just keep on bugging the doctor to refer you to dermatologist. I was so happy if you can believe it . That i got diagnosed with hs. My doctor's sont know how to treat it , because they dont know enough about it . So i researched it and went in with a shopping list to my doctors . I have 2 tropical creams to use , that do help alot . Liquid to put in bath and a soap to use . I did have the surgery on my groin area and i dont get many on that side now . Hope this helps you . Keep going ,i know its hard . Stay strong xxx

KerryannTomlinson, Hi I just joined the group. Could You Please tell me all of the Stuff that You get Off of your Doctor. I have suffered with HA since 2001. It was Great to finally have an answer to my problem. I have only been given Antibiotics and told to have Salt Baths. I will be ever so grateful if You can tell me what to ask my Doctor for.

Hi racheal moore. Dont come on here often so so sorry for late reply. My doctor prescribed. Du-ac cream , to apply directly on said areas, hibi scrub to wash those areas , and oilatum to put in bath , you can also use oilatum as body wash , but do rinse well. Hope this helps racheal , xx

Ahh that’s not nice, mine are bad when they flare up. I had one just by the side on the bridge of my nose it made the whole side of my face swell for days. Looked like I’d been punched.
My GP has put me on Doxycycline for 3 months. I’ve not had a flare up since.
Fingers crossed.

My HS was diagnosed by my new GP who simply handed me a brochure printed off of some medical encyclopedia and suggested a particular soap as if cleanliness was the issue. Basically, other than having a name and some new paperwork, I was no better off than before. I would guess, in spite of that, that a knowledgeable dermo could help manage the symptoms for those with severe versions of this disease. Do you use an anti-perspirant? I always did but discontinued that six months ago and haven't had a new boil since. Others say it didn't help them, and of course it depends on where your boils occur, but mine were 99% underarms and this has made a HUGE difference for me.
