My wound care nurse recommended plain soap and water. If I'm really concerned about an infection I'll use hibiclens. Then I put Medihoney wound gel over it and cover it with nonabsorbent gauze.

When HS lesions are open, it's crucial to handle them gently to avoid further irritation or infection. Here are some recommended cleaning methods:

- **Saline Solution**: This is gentle on the skin and can help clean the lesions without causing additional pain. Saline matches the salt concentration of your body, which makes it less irritating than plain water.

- **Gentle Cleansers**: Products like Head & Shoulders shampoo can be used. It's important to let the soap and water gently rinse over the area rather than scrubbing.

These methods help manage the lesions by keeping them clean and reducing the risk of infection. Always follow the advice of a healthcare professional for the best care practices.
