How can I help drain one when it's so painful and I've done everything?
I use a bed buddy. I heat it in the microwave for a minute and put it on the area. The weight/pressure may hurt for a second but it helps reduce the pain and drain (not immediately).

Nope! HS isn't infectious so it can't be passed from person to person.
I seen the surgeon yesterday. He referred me to derm. But in the meantime he started me on daily doxycycline . I've taken it in past but just a the usual short dose. Not sure when Derm will be because the referral just got sent yesterday.
I took it for about 6 months....3 times a day. Gave me diarrhea and did not help my HS at all. Doctor wanted me to keep taking it but I declined...after about a year, he started me on some other meds
I was recently diagnosed last year but realize I have had flare ups for a few years. We just always thought they were ingrown hairs in my groin/pantyline. Currently in the midst of one and I’m miserable. I’m lucky b/c mine aren’t that bad, but I’m terrified of what they could become.
