I've had hidradenitis for over 20 years now. Has anyone else noticed flair ups a week before menstruation? I've been working with my obgyn to try to figure out a way to stop my cycle completely bc like clockwork, a week before I start, I flair.
Thank you everyone for the good advice! I really do appreciate it.
My sister has pcos. I don't have that but haven't been tested specifically (I'm not sure even what test that would be). I have Crohns disease with short bowel syndrome. I don't absorb fluids and bc of this I dehydrate easy. My kidneys function constantly goes up and down. They tried spironolactone but it made my kidneys fail. I've been on 2 different birth control pills. They are about to try the depo shot. I was going to have a hysterectomy but my h.s. is so severe that they won't do it. They are afraid that if they preformed the surgery that it would just be another cavity that h.s. would take over. This has been terrible for me bc I have my menstruation cycle every 2 weeks for God knows why. I even have a cancer obgyn, top doctor at Cleveland clinic working on my case and has no answers. I'm in a perpetual flair bc it seems like I'm always on my period. It's frustrating. I'll look into that ortho evra. If this depo doesn't work, I will throw that suggestion my doctors way. It's so stupid because I have 6 Cleveland Clinc Specialists working on my h.s., 2 dermatologists, 1 plastic surgeon, 1 colorectal surgeon, and 2 obgyns. Ugh
I have PCOS and started using ortho evra several years ago and all that stopped for a while! Have you ever been checked for PCOS? Some people also use spirnolactone.
Always
I visited an endocrinologist. All of my hormone levels are fine but I do know they fluctuate. I'm currently trying to permanently stop my cycle. I just started the depo shot and so far 2 months period free. Now I'm kinda just watching and waiting to see if it helps with my flares.
